Well I've not had any emails, calls or mail from Goals but the fixtures for the new season are on the website!
We have the Ring-O-Bells first up, 1900 on Thursday. Post here if you will/won't be able to play.

After a long hard thought last week, i have decided to go my own way and set up my own team. I contacted goals and they had a space in division 3 which is where i have been placed.

I would like to thank everyone connected with the Claret and Banter team for their hard work, time and effort. My decision is nothing to do with anything any of you have done but purely my own personal decision.

I would like to wish you all the very best for the next set of games and we may well cross paths in the future (hopefully on good terms!). You have the base of a good team and the more you play together, results will get better. We all showed signs of improvement last season.

I hope you can understand my decision.

The only place available was in the 3rd division.
I only had the place confirmed to me on saturday afternoon by a voicemail which i didn't pick up until later. I didn't want to say anything until it was confirmed. The only time i also go on here is whilst at work, thus being the first time i have been able to tell you about this today. I'm sorry for late news and to be honest would have liked to have told you earlier. You are all good lads which makes the decision harder to make (i have not thought twice about leaving teams with knobheads in the past).
This was not the reason for not coming on friday either. I geniunely needed a day off the booze mate after few too many nights out.

Like i say mate, i hope you don't hold this against me and hope we can all still be pals about it. I would not hesitate to join you all anytime for a beer. If any of you now dislike me for this, then i too will respect your opinion.

As it's a new team we have to start in the division below.

in both 1911 and my defence, (which i think is a bit harsh us having to defend ourselves) we only knew ourselves recently as we were awaiting confirmation from goals that there was a spot available. and you have more than enough players so that cannot be an issue. it was our intention to tell you on the christmas do but as you are aware 1911 didn't come because he was knackered and i didn't fancy telling you all and possibly ruining the night and having to fend people off whilst i felt like S**t myself.

i understand that you might not like the decision but we remained commited to C&B FC to the end, we actually wanted to play against ring o bells for the final match of the season.

There has been no arguments or 'internal friction' as far as i know, i'm totally shocked by this. I don't know the lads as well as some but its disappointing that they have seen fit to take this course.
Part of the teams appeal was that everyone got on so well. Its just the timing that is shitty.

Firstly for the records and to hopefully put my former team mates minds at rest, my leaving C&B FC was not as a result of anything that anyone had done said etc. But was simply a decision that I made following an offer from 1911 I have my reasons and would rather not go into them but if asked I will happily explain.

In response to Blady’s earlier post:-

We didn't know we were looking to leave until the Thursday when football was cancelled against Ring O Bells, even at this point it definitely wasn't set in stone that we were to leave C&B FC. This most definitely wasn’t the plot that you seem to think it was.

I really hoped it wouldn’t come to this, that we would have to defend our position on the matter simply for deciding not play for C&B FC anymore but it seems that people are angrier than anticipated. I didn’t expect people to be happy as we had a good team ethic despite a shaky start and I think were all enjoying playing together losses aside, but certainly wouldn’t have thought we’d be vilified for such an action.

I’m still at a loss as to what exactly we have done wrong in leaving the team? I appreciate the view that there might not be enough players for Thursday but think this a very weak argument considering the amount of people who have played for C&B FC last season alone and the amount of people on this website. I think that people are using this argument to berate 1911 and I because the realisation that they have lost their star player in 1911 and can understand this reaction to a point. If people feel used, then maybe this is more of a valid point but certainly one that I’m not willing to concede fully. The fact remains that we would have played for C&B FC next season if we were unable to enter the league this with no detriment to C&B FC other than the potential to lose 2 easily replaceable players, which has now happened.

As for the player rotation issue, when you came to watch that time we differed in opinion on the sub rotation and that remains the case. I think having 6 players is more than adequate to play and rotate and I stand by that comment.

As for 1911 and I being selfish twats your entitled to your opinion, for now I’ll steer away from insults.

I, and I’m sure this goes for 1911, am sorry if anyone feels let down, it was never our intention to so. I hope and am sure that C&B FC will remain to be a good team with a much better spirit.

I want to win every week even if I know deep down that we have no chance I still want to win and am prepared to give 110% that's it. I think with the new team we have a better chance and decided to play for them.

Hi all! Been out today and this evening so I've missed all this fun! :D

What can I say? I'm shocked and surprised about todays revelations but life goes on.
I would like to ask 1911 though....what is the reason for you setting up your own team? I know you like playing football. You play Sunday league and like me play 5aside 2 or 3 times week. Why did you want to set up your own team for a Thursday when you are already in an established and improving team?
It just confuses me a little. Anyway, you must have your reasons. Reply here or pm me or tell me on Thursday, I'm sure we'll see you!

Like KB, I don't want to and have no intention of falling out with anybody over this. I've made some good mates through this team and have a cracking time on Thursday evenings win, lose or draw!

Losing 2 of our main players will definately have an impact on team selection. Boosh and 1911 contributed to most of our games last season and for that I'm grateful and they would have been more than welcome for next season! This leaves us with a C&B squad of myself, KB, Rambo, JPH, Superfat and Ed. That's 6 players or call it 5 and a half given that Ed has work commitments! We've asked piggy Paul back to be a main player and his brother may also be able to play. KB said he may know one or 2 who can come in. Also of course we have yeadon and joe who can come in when needed. This needn't be the end for C&B FC! Any other C&B posters who fancy a regular game are welcome to volunteer!

No hard feelings to 1911 and Boosh, good luck in the new season lads! Yes, the timing was shit but when would it ever be good? Wish you were both staying but c'est la vie! You're both good lads and I'll have a beer with you anytime.

I missed 3 games last season.

1st: injury

2nd:Had to pick my sister up from Leeds because my dad couldnt due to a broken leg

3rd: Prior Christmas work do.

Well, where do I start? I suppose I should start from my perspective first/ Sorry to the lads for nopt being there last night - I had no idea we were starting and having not been on here for a while didn't get the gossip!

As far as 1911 and The Mighty Booshie are concerned I am not going to fall out with them as people - I think you are two decent lads and I am pleased to have met you. I enjoyed playing football with you and I take my hat off to 1911 for his performance throughout the season.

As players I am incredibly disappointed and a little angry to say the least. It would have been polite to have at least mentioned that this was in the pipeline, or at least that you were thinking about it. It's almost like I feel we have been used. It seems like there was never any intention to see the next season in with us and the thing that football enthusiasts love the most, loyalty, seems to be seriously lacking.

However, what I am most disappointed in is the comment by Booshie that he took the games more seriously than some of his team-mates. Quite where this comes from I do not know. I doubt you could find any fault in my attitude last season, and I would argue that, Si apart, I covered more ground in the pursuit of a victory than anyone. I threw myself in front of any shots coming in, as my strength is defence, so I have no doubts my efforts were rewarded with less goals conceded, and I'm sure Matt will vouch for that. I don't doubt any of the players' attitudes, yes it may seem that some went off the pace at times but that is more through lack of fitness at times and more often than not heads going down. It was always going to be hard in the first season and I was looking forward to going places in our second season when we would all know each other better and no doubt would have better communication, cohesion, and shape.

I feel that I took the games more seriously than my team mates, which is not me having a go at others for adhering to my level of seriousness but just something that took into consideration when making my decision.

I said I wouldn't post anymore on this subject but feel I owe a response to superfat as he's a former team mate and everyone else has had a chance to discuss this with me so i'll allow the same courtesy.

For the records superfat I think you, out of anyone in C&B FC last season you put in 110% everyweek and am not calling into question your comitment. If anything superfat I'd say you put in the most effort. those comments made are simply my thoughts behind making my decision and were not directed at anyone or even the team as a whole. I was asked to explain my thoughts so I did. I'm glad to see that we wont fall out over this and understand your anger and frustation as it must have come as a shock and for that I'm sorry.
