Man Utd 'to sign striker Larsson'
Manchester United have made a shock move to sign veteran striker Henrik Larsson on loan from Swedish club Helsinborg, according to reports.
Helsinborg declined to comment but will hold a news conference at 1130 GMT.
Former Celtic striker Larsson, 35, would be available in January but would return to Helsingborg in March after the Swedish off-season.

They might as well send Manchester United the Premier League trophy now...

Top player in an average league, never did it in La Liga & was only average at Feyenoord. Should have left Celtic 5 years earlier to try & prove if he was good enough, stayed to long in a crap league.

Too old and unproven in a 'proper' league:rolleyes:
Ffs, even Alan 'Smiffy' Smith would get 5+ goals in the Scots Premier div!

although sir alex has always been a big fan - think this would be a step back - hope he proves us all wrong tho...he was a class act - even for the scottish league.
it's only a short term solution anyway. very unlikely that he'll play much unless he starts scoring

No offense like Tosh, but that's a load of balls.

Thanks Chucks, thats what i think though!!
Larsson is a great player but I know people will think less of him for playing in a shit league for a long part of his career.
Any league that makes Jorge Cadete look good must be a shit league.

Jorge Cadette looked good Because Paulo Di Canio made him look good. After Di Canio left Celtichis game went to ratshit in Scotland. Cadette to be fair wasn't really given chance with us. If his header had gone in on his debut again Villa rether than bounce off the cross bar it might have been a different tale.
Larsson can play at any level, he doesn't have to raise his game or lower his game to accomodate any standard of league he's playing in. What you see is what you get; a great footballer that shines on any stage. The Henrik Larsson you see winning the Champions League single handed for Barcelona isn't putting any more or less effort in than he did playing for Celtic or Helsingbourgs in so called lesser Leagues. He can't look anything but class for one reason and one reason alone, he is class. I am looking forward to seeing him play in the Premiership and I don't doubt for a minute he'll do the business.

This decision shows that Fergie - at long last, has finally lost his fookin marbles.....being an ex Ger, i can only presume its his last chance of getting one over the Mhanky's - ie, make their biggest hero look a cnut in his old age, in a league he would look out of his depth in - even when he was young and fit.....
What a bizarre, strange, absolutely rediculous decision.......football truly is a funny old game!!!.....

Matty don't throw a paddy just because Ally McCoist flopped down here when he was in his prime and because your other favourites have spunked 30 Million quid on someone who's genuinely past it. He'll do more for Man Yoo in three months on loan than Schevstinko will ever do for Chelsea or for his last two seasons in Serie Cack. If Jose had have bought Larsson in, you'd have wanked your way through all the tissues and bog roll in Billy Towers by now.

Laaaaaaaaaaarson is a striker who i wish had played in the Prem during his prime instead of staying loyal at Celtic..
What is the problem with this signing...The experience, the big game experience at international level etc etc etc will probably have the same impact on this Man Utd team as the 31 year old Ohhhhhh Teddy teddy , teddy teddy teddy sheringham did...
I have always liked Henriks style of play and think he can take the likes of Rooney and Saha to the next level in their games...
Will that ensure the title..Who knows the fact it will probably enure this is a "right to the wire" title race does it for me...
Great signing for me..Plus when i actually saw him play for Barca he looked class still....Bergkamp was still the real deal till he retired so was sheringham and others..You dont just lose it....
The fact he is free too is the best part of this deal too...Its a no lose situation for him and Fergie...
GAME ON...
BTW Chuckles supporting everyother team bar Chelsea takes the edge off you bigging up any of these teams chances or victories over the Blues...
