My other half is a big fan of his and often plays his music in the house. Since he was appearing in Oslo tonight I had to go along with her. It turned out due to unforseen circumstances that I ended up at the concert with 5 other women. 3 English girls including my other half, 1 Norwegian and 1 Pole.
We got to the venue early and found ourselves sat at a table right in front of the stage.
When Badly Drawn Boy finally appeared on stage, he stopped his first song, swore at his technicians complaining about the poor sound. It sounded alright to be honest, it must have been his monitors. Anyway he started again, after 3 songs he threw his guitar onto the floor saying he never wanted to play that one again. He was swearing like a trooper on stage complaining about the sound.
Well of course my other half was embarrassed that she'd organized this evening out and it was turning out the way it was. Myself and the others found this very amusing. Badly Drawn Boy must have seen us because he picked up his mic stand and threw it at us. He missed, so he picked it up again and threw it at us again, hitting one of the girls on her leg. Then he lit up a cigatrette on stage, which is illegal in Norway, had a few drags and then threw the cigarette at us. It landed underneath the table. Then he started singing a song, as he was singing he jumped off stage and started walking around the tables, then he picked up somebody's glass of coke, drank some, came over to our table and gave us the evil eye. I honestly thought he was going to throw the drink over us. I'm not a violent person, but I tell you I had a bottle of Heiniken in front of me and I was ready to use it. The Norwegian girl was looking at him in disbelief and he actually sang to her looking her straight in the eye and standing right in front of our table he sang "You can leave if you want to" I tell you I was utterly gobsmacked, we all were. Anyway he went away for a few seconds and then came back to the table and publically apologized to us, he shook each of the girls hands and kissed it. Then he shook my hand and kissed it (the big puff) Then he jumped back up on stage finished his song and apologized to everyone telling them that he was having a rough time, personal problems and he once again apologized to our table. Then he carried on with the concert, but he was in a bad mood. Somebody shouted "Aren't you hot in that hat" and he called them a f'¨**ing c*nt and said he was fed up of remarks like that and how he had to leave behind his kids to be here tonight.
He isn't my favourite artist to be honest, his music is okay, but I tell you what. I wouldn't have missed his concert for the world. What a bizarre evening. I still can't believe it actually happened. He was lucky the husbands of the other girls weren't there otherwise it could have got really nasty.
What a night jawdrop:
