I would like to think this is a genuine attempt to make the game more honest but i'm not too sure how much support it will get from other clubs

Hmm... what criteria will they set to decide wether an injury or foul is genuine or not... methinks if A Torquay striker get's 'tripped' in the box and scores a resultant penalty it would NOT come under scrutiny....

...I'm all for fair play but it's the governing body that should orchestrate penalties... maybe using video evidence with a second referee... blah blah blah.

I missed this bit...

THE TORQUAY INITIATIVE
Club's board will consider video evidence from third parties up to five days after match
Only "clear" cases of player diving or feigning injury to gain an advantage will be addressed
Player and representative will attend hearing with club directors, CEO and manager

If found guilty:
First offence: Player cautioned
Second offence: Final warning and maximum fine
Third offence: Player transfer-listed or dismissed

...still doesn't answer my question though.

It seems an honourable ideal but like you i think the governing body should be the sole arbiter of the game.

I think they've set the terms of it up so that it looks good, but it's very unlikely to go the full distance of getting rid of someone.

Still, fair play to them. Even if it is full of caveats, it's more of a statement than anyone else is making.

Diving to gain advantage is widespread and now an integral and oft used tactic in the game, so much so it is almost acceptable. In taking this stance Torquay's chairman is robbing his side of a potential way of gaining points. Do unto others as others would do unto you is my Motto and by doing this the Torquay Chairman is robbing his team and supporters of a tactic that could win them an important game. This gesture would only work if his attitude was a widespread one, which it is not and never will be.

Like i said, noble sentiments but misguided in my opinion
