Was anybody else disappointed by the England performance last night? I thought the quality of passing was a disgrace for players of such supposed quality. I'm starting to think that the players are distinctly average just totally hyped up every week by the Sky/Premier League publicity machine. I thought Carrick was truly awful & Andy Johnson was once again hung out to dry by Sven McClaren playing him out on the right. Lampard was ordinary again, Gerrard was like a little boy lost going looking for the ball. Joe Cole was ok when he wasn't falling over trying to get free kicks & Micagh Richards deserves praise for his performance against a good winger in Arjen Robben. The Dutch were a very ordinary team also but the technique of Englands players was embarrassing , what do they do all day because i'm sure they don't practise ball control & passing, is it all power & strength that is needed or is it beneath them to practise with a ball. This team is going nowhere . Golden generation my arse!

Friendly game and it means feck all. I still don't agree with McClaren being manager but will judge him solely on competetive matches only. As it stands at the moment we are 3rd in our qualifying group which tells you all you need to know, whilst an average Villa side under O'Neill are sat in 3rd place in the Premiership. It's a case of lets see what you could of won when the Euros come round year after next.

Two very overated and ordinary looking teams
They had possesion, we had the chances

Only positives would have to be micah Richards and Joe Cole

Madness the way AJ is treated, I personally dont think he is England class but picking him wide right is madness

I personally think friendly games are important, how else do you judge how players can perform against different teams, how else would we know M.Richards could perform at the next level, how else can we all see Micheal Carrick cant pass a ball for toffee!!!!!!!!!!!tup:

Another positive for me though was that perhaps people are starting to see that Stevie G is far more effective when he plays through the middle. Glad to hear he has spoken with Rafa and will get more time in the middle now - cue an upturn in Liverpool's fortunes and hopefully people realising that he is the most effective central midfielder the country has.

Big negative - Paul Robinson - his weaknesses at commanding his area exposed again.

James' form of late surely makes up for his calamity acts of the past. I'd feel safer with him in net and the way Terry and Rio gave the blaming look at Robinson I think they would feel the same.
