Anybody else a fan of Meat Loaf? I've just bought Bat 3 and am about to give it a run through.
I know a couple of the tracks - 'It's all coming back to me now' and 'Bad for Good' are Jim Steinman songs which have been covered before.
I hope it's good - I've been to see Meat Loaf a few times in concert and I don't want to be disappointed. His best stuff is always the songs written by Steinman IMO and about half of these are Steinman tracks.

Meat was OK for his era but he and his music haven't moved on and quite frankly, if you have heard one... you have heard them all.

its a real shame he tried to do more tham one BOOH..the first willalways be in rock history...the rest are poor by comparison.
I saw him live in Nurenburg Ring in 1979 - with cher live on stage and it was magical - real theatre.
My best memory of the album was when 18 squaddies all keyed up the album ....the big black flat things - on their steroes - it was a sunday morning in summer so all the windows where open and BOOH rang around the barracks - in a real sureal wayas there was no way of coordinating 18 stylus needles to be drooped at once......
Stylus needles , albums - ehhhh the good old days

An artist who couldn't pen a song on his own - even Robbie Williams has managed to write a few....
Nah, sorry, just like Sinatra, Elvis, Bananarama, Rick Astley, Westlife, Boyzone blah blah blah and all the other "arteeeests" that didn't have the talent to be able to write their own material - he's overrated fookin shite.....

That's a bit narrow KB... many songwriters can't sing(didn't stop Dylan I suppose;) ).. so they need the Elvis's and Sinatra's of this world to perform their songs...
Agree about Meat thotup:

nowt worse than music snobs who only rate a tune if it's written by it's artist, rather than it's merits as a tune.

He's crap Shaz - what would you think of an artist who supplied the paints but didn't do the painting? Or a poet who had a load of words but didn't put em together?.....
He's a fat karaoke singer - nowt more nowt less, sure he has a bit of charisma - but i've heard better renditions of Bat out of hell in the Oddfellows Hall on a Friday night....

surely that wouldn't be the job of the singer...someone else might provide the words, but he sings them the way that the wirter imagined they'd be sung
the artist, to somebody else's ideas, yeah...

The first album (back in 1978?) was tremendous and every track outstanding putting it in 'classic' status. However as we know it was Steinman's work and very well performed by meat loaf.
Subsequent work by Meat Loaf, is disappointing and never match that first album (not suprisingly).
It does warrant a place in my top 10 favourite albums.

FPMSL :D According to the Norwegian press Meatloaf says that
" De som hater plata trenger hjelp!"
"Those who hate the album need help".

He said it not me. They like it in Norway because Marion Ravn is a Norwegian. They like anything here that gets international attention and is Norwegian. It doesn't happen very often :D
